What Happened to Danielle Lopez? Missing NJ Woman Last Seen at Wawa

Missing New Jersey woman Danielle Lopez was last seen smiling after buying a coffee at a Wawa five months ago.
Surveillance footage from a Wawa on Route 72 in Burlington County shows the 37-year-old Lopez as she left the store with a coffee on April 13.
New Jersey State Police launched several searches for Lopez and opened a missing person investigation in May. Officials said they have interviewed several individuals, but “there are no suspects at this time.”
The next known footage of Lopez shows her walking on a dirt road in Penn State Forest in Woodland. The area is several miles from the Wawa. The footage was captured on a motorist’s GoPro camera hours after Lopez bought the coffee at Wawa.
A couple spoke to Lopez on April 13 around 6 p.m. and filmed the interaction on a GoPro. The couple was driving as Lopez walked alone on the road. She was wearing different clothing from what she was wearing earlier that day.
Lopez’s mother, Sue Quackenbush, told NJ.com that the last time she spoke to her daughter was on April 12.
“We just spoke for a while and I told her I loved her,” Quackenbush said.
Lopez told her mother that she was camping in the Brendan T. Byrne State Forest with her boyfriend of seven years.
“She was camping with someone she trusted. She seemed content,” Quackenbush said. “She said she was warm. She had a propane heater. After that, every day I tried to reach her and I wasn’t able to.”
She reported her daughter missing on April 24.
Lopez’s phone has not been found and her bank accounts have not had any activity since she went missing.
Quackenbush discovered the Wawa purchase because she shares a Wawa card with her daughter. Police then recovered the surveillance footage, which indicated that Lopez left Wawa just after 9 a.m.
Quackenbush claimed someone was with Lopez at the Wawa, but officials have not told her the other person’s name.
Officials said they have interviewed Lopez’s companion at the Wawa, as well as her boyfriend and multiple other people who were around Lopez in the days leading up to her disappearance.
Lopez’s boyfriend said he last saw her on April 13. He is currently in state prison for an unrelated incident.
Lopez’s car, a two-door blue Hyundai Accent, was found on May 1 in Penn State Forest, about 12 miles from the campground.
Quackenbush said her daughter was struggling with multiple deaths in her immediate family.
“Danielle has struggled since the loss of her two brothers,” Quackenbush said. “Shortly after that, she lost her father and grandfather.”
One of her brothers died by suicide in 2015 and the other was killed in a car accident 10 months later.
Lopez’s dog had also died about a month before she disappeared.
Lopez is described as white, 5 feet 4 inches tall and 135 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. Anyone with information about her disappearance should call New Jersey State Police at 609-882-2000, ext. 2554 or email [email protected].
